An opportunity to experience fabulous views over the Dove and Manifold Valleys and take a spectacular walk along the edge of Dowlow and Hindlow Quarries...

Time: 1 hour
Distance: 3 kms (2 miles)
 
  1. Walk down the drive past Sheldon Cottage. At the end of the drive turn right and then follow the lane opposite heading uphill along the stone wall (a)
  2. Follow the lane up and then down until you reach a gravel path on your left, marked ‘Cycle Route 68’ (b)
  3. Go through the gate and after 150 meters, take the footpath marked to the left
  4. Cross the field bearing slightly uphill, ending up in the right hand corner of the field (c)
  5. Cross the stile ahead and continue on the path keeping the quarry on your right over two further stiles and through a metal gate.
  6. When you reach a stony track (d), bear left down the hill, and pass through another metal gate. Then take the 1st track on your right (e)
  7. When you reach the road, turn left and descend down past the  Village School and Church to the village green
  8. If it’s open, have a drink at the Quiet Woman Pub
  9. With the pub behind you, turn right and take the road past the Methodist Chapel
  10. Just before the village pond on your right, take the left fork, marked with a brown ‘i’ sign, direction Hartington (f)
  11. About a mile up the road, on the right, you’ll find yourself back at Wheeldon Trees !
