Details: Treak Cliff Hill is the only place in the world where Blue John Stone naturally occurs. The mineral is a unique colour banded form of Fluorspar, thought to take its name from the French 'bleu et jeune', the 'blue and yellow' stone.
Mined in the 18th Century, the Derbyshire folk of that time coined the name Blue John Stone.
