Bradwell in the Peak District of Derbyshire is a pretty, unspoiled village set in the picturesque Hope Valley. It lies on the line where the dark and white peaks meet and is surrounded by rolling countryside divided up by dry stone walls typical of the area.
Dating back to Roman times, Bradwell has a long tradition of mineral extraction, first in the form of lead mining and more recently the extraction of limestone for the production of cement. Its houses are built mainly in limestone, and adorn the hillsides in a higgledy piggledy fashion.

Bugsworth Basin, the head of navigation of the Peak Forest Canal, was the largest and busiest inland port on Britain's narrow canal system and the only one to survive intact. Famous canal and tramway engineer, Benjamin Outram, built the 14 mile long Peak Forest Canal from Dukinfield to Bugsworth, although plans to extend to Chapel Milton via Whitehough were never realised. Construction of the six-mile Peak Forest Tramway in 1795-96 linked Bugsworth Basin to the limestone and gritstone quarries in Derbyshire, and the canal linked Bugsworth to Manchester and the trans-Pennine canal network.

Cromford Village
Cromford is a village in the county of Derbyshire in the East Midlands of England, on the southern edge of the Peak District. It has a population of 1,669 (in 1991). Situated just off the A6 trunk road, the village is 17 miles north of Derby, and about 20 minutes drive from the M1 motorway. The nearest towns are Matlock and Wirksworth. Cromford is well known through its connection with Sir Richard Arkwright, who established a water powered cotton spinning mill here in 1771.

Longdendale and Glossopdale have always been linked and it was only by an accident of political history during mediaeval times that they were separated into different counties. Glossopdale is an outpost of Derbyshire; Longdendale a long thin finger of Cheshire stretching out towards the distant Yorkshire moors. Neither have ever really belonged to these respective counties. They are their own entity; their people, their topology, their history and their legends so intertwined over the centuries that it is difficult to tell where one ends and the other begins.

Edale, A Green Valley surrounded by Hills
Edale has become popular with many people but none more so than walkers as this is the southernmost point of the Pennine Way, England's longest long distance walk. Overlooked by the Iron Age fort on Mam Tor, Edale Valley is the wide expanse of green which lies just to the south of the great gritstone and peat mass of Kinder Scout, which is usually accepted as the southern end of the Pennine's.
Flagg Village
